Official Statement From Blooms & Berries
We were made aware this morning of a deeply offensive and racist comment made by a (now prior) Blooms & Berries part time, seasonal employee on a public Facebook post. The comment was abhorrent, inexcusable, and in complete opposition to everything our family and our farm stand for.
This person is no longer employed at Blooms & Berries Farm Market. Effective immediately.
We want to be unequivocal: There is no place for racism of any kind in our workplace, on our farm, or in our community. We are deeply sorry to every guest, neighbor, and member of our community who was hurt by this. You deserve better, and so did Shadeed Coggins who was the subject of those hateful words.
Blooms & Berries has built on community, family, and welcoming every single person who walks through our gates. We exist to cultivate joy and connection, and anybody who is comfortable with such words of hate, is never welcome on our team or our farm.
We are grateful to those who brought this to our attention. It was the right thing to do.
