The Atlanta Police Department is investigating after a woman was found shot to death inside an SUV in southeast
Atlanta early on Wednesday morning.
According to police, officers were called to Springside Place at around 1:23 a.m.
Police said the 36-year-old woman had multiple gunshot wounds inside the SUV, which was confirmed to be a Range Rover.
The Homicide Unit commander said that Atlanta police are in the early stages of the investigation. It appears that someone fired into the car, striking the woman multiple times.
“We’re still looking for video cameras in the area. We’ve got a general idea of the route that was taken, so we’re going to have to backtrack some information to figure out the exact circumstances to figure out if anyone was with her or not,” he said.
Butler said cameras, neighbors and anonymous tips are three huge assets in figuring out, not only what happened here overnight, but any crime scene they are called to investigate.
“We push Crimestoppers a lot, 404-577-TIPS. That really is valuable to use. People don’t really understand it. It is anonymous, so if anybody has any information, they can call in and leave a tip,” said Butler. “We really appreciate those tips and they’re very valuable.”
