Last night, what was supposed to be a birthday celebration at Riverfront Live, a popular music venue in the East End of Cincinnati, Ohio turned into chaos and gunfire.
The party was reportedly a birthday event for Jermaine “DJ Fresh” Tandy, with a DJ lineup that was set to kick off around 10 PM Saturday night. Fans were sharing posts and taggings online about the celebration before the shooting happened.
Police say shots rang out inside the venue around 1 a.m. Sunday, sending crowds running and prompting a massive emergency response.
9 people were confirmed shot by police, none with life-threatening wounds, and taken to hospitals. Authorities aren’t saying yet exactly how it started or if it was directly tied to the birthday party, but they confirmed the victims and location.
There are unverified reports floating online, including from alert apps and social posts claiming up to 13 people were shot, but those higher figures have not been confirmed by police.
This isn’t just another headline.
This was a night meant for celebration, music, birthdays, people letting loose and it turned into sirens, hospitals, and heartbreak.
