A deadly shooting unfolded inside a Rhode Island ice arena during a hockey event when a man opened fire on his own family, according to reports. Authorities say the suspect shot and killed his wife, wounded two of his children, and then turned the gun on himself in what is being described as a domestic violence incident.
In the middle of the chaos, witnesses say a father in attendance acted quickly and confronted the gunman, managing to wrestle the first firearm away from him in an attempt to stop the violence. However, the suspect was reportedly carrying a second gun, which he then used as the situation escalated.
Law enforcement confirmed that two people are deceased, including the suspect, and four others were injured. Emergency responders rushed to the arena, securing the scene while families and students were escorted to safety. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to piece together exactly what happened.
