According to information, Gary Shampeny, is currently on the run after he ran over a Chíischipaalíash LJ over racist incident.
The family of LJ has taken to social media to demand justice as they await response from the police.
Linda wrote: “Lake Hills Golf Course owner, assaults 15 year old Native kid who paid to play golf his first time, who got hot, and took off his shirt.
“So this happened today….2 solid weeks of work,1st,job, his first paycheck, 15 yr old grandson LJ always wanted to golf. He joined his best cousins, and paid his own way in at Lake Hills Golf Course. Dammit, he lost his money out there. He was hot and took his shirt off and went back out looking for his bills. A man came driving up in a golf cart sayin “put your shirt on” 3 times but LJ didn’t know what for or why, distressed over his money. The man then drove into LJ with the golf cart 5+ times. The man grabbed LJs braid and jerked it, pulling out his hair and ripping out his earring, “We don’t like your kind here!” the guy said. LJ hit the guy but stopped himself cuz he was old and LJ knew better. This guy, smelling of liquor one last time rammed LJ again, knocking him into the golf cart, skinning up his leg. LJ rushed to the clubhouse to tell the officials. Come to find out, it was the owner! The sister-cousins Kylee and Breanna Old Elk, came and called the police, and this owner walked by us saying he didn’t care, babbling and smelling like liquor. Billings police came and looked for the guy. He had left and his staff was embarrassed. We filed charges, and the police said they would seek a warrant.
“Where do people in America get off assaulting a kid who just wanted to golf, on the 4th of July? Gramma gotta have “the talk” again, “this is real, you are Native, you have a braid, you will be watched and taunted by the deep hate of racism”, but I am proud of LJ for standing up against hate and respecting the police and staff at LAKE Hills GOLF Club. LJ was told “we don’t like your kind around here”
“Both the owner and the business need to be held accountable.
