Call for police officer, Kiel Baitinger-Peterson, to be arrested after hitting Corey Ruiz with 3 shots in Madison

His name is Corey Ruiz.

Kiel Baitinger-Peterson, a City of Madison police officer, shot him point blank three times in the head. He was 38 years old and leaves behind a daughter.

Madison has a history of police killing black men. Tony Robinson, an unarmed black man, was shot and killed by police a block and a half from where Corey was killed today.

Protesters took over and shut down Madison’s Concerts on the Square and got the name of the officer released publicly.

A police officer shot and killed a man who had injured him with a knife while resisting arrest in Madison, Wisconsin, the city’s police chief said. Video of the shooting shows a struggle between the man and four officers before three gunshots are heard. The man who was shot later died at the hospital, authorities said. The man’s name has not yet been released.

All four officers will be placed on administrative leave, as is standard protocol for the Madison Police Department, during the investigation.
